After losing my original blog and all of the posts that went with it to unforeseen circumstances, I am starting all over, trying to piece things back together.
I just wanted to give a shout out to the plugin UpDraftPlus. If it weren’t for me backing up my blog that one fateful day back in December 2018, all of my posts and images would be completely lost. My original blog was up on a server provided to me by the coding bootcamp I completed last year called TechLaunch. Instead of warning me that they would shutdown my server, they just shut it off. I tried contacting one of the heads of the program, but he never got back to me. I was initially frustrated, because I was applying to jobs and had a link to my portfolio on my resume. I was embarrassed by the thought of someone clicking on the link to look at my portfolio, only to see nothing there. Instead of wallowing, I quickly set up my portfolio on Github, which offers limited hosting for a small site via their website. You can now find my portfolio at this link: My Portfolio.
My most fundamental purpose for this blog is to write again. I used to blog a lot in the past, and I strongly believe that it helped keep me grounded, even if I wasn’t always consistent with it. To not have a blog at all, or to not write is akin to me being lost, but in a spiritual and mental sense. No matter what, writing has always helped hold me together, or to cope with all the situations that I encounter daily. It also helped me during transition periods in my life, one of those being my transition to Gainesville, FL to attend the University of Florida about 8 years ago. Now, I am taking on a new transition in my life. I am working on entering into the tech field permanently, specifically as a Front End Developer. I mainly work with web technologies, but I am looking forward to expanding my experience and knowledge even more in the tech field. I want to eventually become a Software Developer.
On this blog, I will discuss my advancement in the tech field. I will specifically focus on what I am currently learning, events I attend/have attended, and topics of interest. I won’t be limiting my posts just to topics concerning the tech world, though. I also have an interest in a lot of other topics that are personal to me, that I believe are worth exploring. I don’t think it helps me much to undervalue my own voice, whether I am speaking audibly or writing. This blog is my way of finding my path again, and finding myself once again in the words that I type.
